A Visit with Nana and Papa

We had our first visit from Nana and Papa since we moved to Wisconsin. We were thrilled that they finally made the trip to see our new home. I wanted this to be a wonderful time of catching up and also a time for them to get to know Wausau so I planned some fun activities.

The drive from Grand Forks is a little over 8hrs. They arrived on Sunday afternoon, got settled into the hotel and then joined us for dinner. It was great to see them!

Monday was just a day to putz around the house. We gave them the tour, threw a line in off the dock, hung out in the kitchen and cooked and just enjoyed our time together. That evening they joined Tom, me and Hattie in celebrating Hattie's 13th birthday with us.Tuesday was the big day! I had arranged a trail ride for Nana, Hattie, Isabelle, and me. Nana hadn't been on a horse in 40 years and this was Isabelle's first ride. They both did great! It was so much fun to see Nana on a horse. And Isabelle squeeled with delight every now and then.



Wednesday I took Nana out to the farm with us. Papa stayed home with Hattie and the little ones (no more dead chickens!). She liked being "back on the ranch" as she grew up on the farm. And she didn't hesitate to jump in and help. Thomas, Isabelle, and Nana helped to pick 80 bunches of 8-12 radishes each! That's alotta pullin'!

Thursday Tom was able to get home early. So while he stayed home with the kiddos, Nana, Papa, and I went shopping at some of the antique shops around town. It was fun to see them marvel at toys they remembered and talk to the owners of the shops. I was able to find a new bench for the dining room table --Yippee!

They had to drive back to ND early on Friday morning. The visit was too short. But we are hoping they will be back soon!
